Math:
We
will not be following the order of the book for the measurement
sections. We will start with the American measurement and then move to
the metric system. The American system will take practice to remember
the conversions. I will put some conversion pages in the front of their
math section.
There is not a lot of review on what was learned in the first semester. Because of this on the practices during the second semester I will be adding some addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems. We will also be reviewing these concepts in class.

Mental
math (MM) can be found toward the back of the Home Instructor Guide. You should
spend no longer than 10 minutes on MM; students do not need to complete the
entire exercise.
Grammar:
We are going to change up the grammar schedule a little bit. I will introduce a concept on Wednesday and the students will complete lesson one. Lesson two will be completed on Thursday. Monday lesson three will be completed. Tuesday will be a review for the grammar test on Wednesday.
We
are going to continue to use what we have learned in our IEW papers. This will
help the kids not just be able to use the new concept in the grammar
workbook but show them how this is used in the writing. You will not be doing any Shurley vocabulary at home for the remainder
of the year as we will be focusing on IEW vocabulary.
Composition:
Final
papers will need to written in cursive.
Please find the checklist in your child's campus binder in the comp. section.
Please check them closely for spelling, dress-ups, complete sentences, paragraph indents, etc. Reminder: each vocabulary word from the current lesson that is used in the rough draft is worth 1 extra credit point each (3 points possible).

Continue
to practice proper formation of cursive letters at home. Writing on notebook
paper, rather than handwriting paper is new for some students this year. Please
help your student with this transition.
Reading:
We will start reading "How We Crossed The West" this week. Please ask your
child to orally narrate a summary of what they read and engage in a discussion
with them.
Science:
The
answer to the science review quiz can be found in the digital teacher's book on
page 128.

Please
spend time during your school day to work on our school wide scripture, 'Try Again' poem, geography map & song, history timeline song, and Chemical Change poem. Feel free to get creative and practice these in the car, at
bedtime, or during meals.
