Complete one hour of Aleks math per week.  If you have reached the multiplication and division, please stop working on continuing my path.  You can practice addition and subtraction with games in the quick tables.

Fortis has been using the Singapore Math for a long time now.  This is my fourth year to teach this curriculum and we have a very good idea of how long the assignment should take for that day.  Math is taking a long during our class day.  After discussing this with Dr. Brannan and Mrs. Brazill the amount of time it has been taking us to complete the assignment for the day, a decision has been made to follow the schedule time that is allowed for math each day.  The math time is from 9:05-10:15.  If it is a workbook page that is not for a grade it will be sent home to complete at homework.  If it is a practice, test or something that is graded it will be completed during lunch recess with Mrs. Brazill over seeing the students.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  

 Remember to complete the addition math fact page everyday.

Grammar:

Review the definitions of the parts of speech.  This can be confusing when they are trying to match these on the test.

Composition:

The schedule will be Monday KWO, Tuesday write rough draft, parents proofread and make sure everything on the checklist is in paper.  Wednesday start writing final draft.  Thursday finish final draft and an oral retell.

Reading

We are starting "The Hundred Dresses" this week. We will be completing a book report flaps for this book.  This is like the timeline report.  The student will write each part of the time line behind a flap.  The flap should be illustrated as a main part of the story.  We will make the flag book at school on Wednesday.  They will add to each flap after they have read for that day.

In class last Wednesday we read ch. 5 of "Magicians Nephew"  They do not need to fill out the Reading Exploration for Ch 5.  They really like "Magician's Nephew and are wanting to read it on Wednesdays also.  If we have time, I will read them the next chapter on Wednesdays but they will not need to fill out the reading exploration.  

History:

We will be learning 12 key dates during the year.  We will be leaning 3 dates a quarter.  At the end of the quarter there will be a quiz.  The quiz will be accumulative as the year progresses.  The dates are listed in the campus binder under the science and history tab.

Please spend time during your school day to work on our school wide scripture, quarter 1 poem, geography map & song, and key dates. Feel free to get creative and practice these in the car, at bedtime, or during meals.
