Math:
If your child is struggling with addition math facts, please spend extra time practicing them.  We will have a timed math facts test for a test grade on 10/3.

Please continue to practice bar modeling at home. Here are the links to the bar modeling https://fortisacademy.wordpress.com/curriculum/math/

Grammar:
Reminding your student of the Shurley jingle that matches the definition may help. You will not be doing any Shurley vocabulary at home for the remainder of the year as we will be focusing on IEW vocabulary.
Composition:
Over the next four weeks we will be working on Damocles and the King.  This will be divided up into three section.  First is the setting, characters and background.  Week two will be the conflict (plot).  Week three will be the climax and resolution.  Each week there will be a KWO, rough draft and final draft.  The final will be turned in and graded.  Week four we will rewrite the final drafts into one paper with paragraphs and in cursive. Please keep the finals all in the campus binder over the four weeks.  I do not want a student to have to rewrite a section because they cannot find their paper.
Continue to practice proper formation of cursive letters at home. Writing on notebook paper, rather than handwriting paper is new for some students this year. Please help your student with this transition.  Starting Oct 10 all final draft will have to be in cursive.

Science:
The answers to the quiz can be found in the teacher's guide pg 56.  Begin practicing the "Periodic Table" poem.
Reading:
We are continuing to read "Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrims" this week.
Memory:
Please spend time during your school day to work on our school wide scripture, quarter 1 poem, geography map & song, history timeline song, and Periodic Table poem. Feel free to get creative and practice these in the car, at bedtime, or during meals.
