Math:
Please continue to review all math facts. Addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
If
your child is struggling with addition math facts, please spend extra
time practicing them. We will have a timed math facts test for a test
grade on 10/3.
Grammar:
Reminding your student of the
Shurley jingle that matches the definition may help. You will not be doing any
Shurley vocabulary at home for the remainder of the year as we will be focusing
on IEW vocabulary.
Composition:
We are on week two of Damocles and the King. This
week we are working on the conflict (plot). There will be a KWO, rough
draft and final draft for this section. The final for week two will be turned in on Monday and will be graded. Please keep the finals all in the campus binder after they have been graded. I do not want a student to have to rewrite a section
because they cannot find their paper.
Continue to practice proper
formation of cursive letters at home. Writing on notebook paper, rather than
handwriting paper is new for some students this year. Please help your student
with this transition. Starting Oct 10 all final draft will have to be in cursive.
Science:
The answers to the quiz can be found in the teacher's guide pg 60. Begin practicing the "Periodic Table" poem.
Reading:
We will finish "Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrims" this week.
Memory:
Please spend time during your school
day to work on our school wide scripture, quarter 1 poem, geography map &
song, history timeline song, and Periodic Table poem. Feel free to get
creative and practice these in the car, at bedtime, or during meals.
