Bible:
We will be continuing a study on the courage of Christmas this week. This is a bible devotional off of the YouVersion app. The devotional is called "The Star: Courage At The First Christmas" if you would like to read the devotional that goes along with the Bible passages on homeschool days.
Math:
We will start the Math 3B book on January 11. Continue practicing math facts along with any concepts that are still difficult for your child over the Christmas break.
Composition:
Continue to review vocab words as they are accumulative for the quizzes.
Reading
We start reading "A Cricket in Time Square" after the break for the at home reader.
We will be starting "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" as the in class read aloud.
Please find some fun but grade level books to keep reading over the break.
Science:
Science presentation: On Wednesday the students will present a science presentation to the class. They can pick any topic in chapters 4-7 that they have enjoyed learning about and want to share. The presentation need to be at least 4 sentence. They need to write them down on note cards or a piece of paper. They will turn in their notecards or paper with their presentation on it. They can read their information however they will need to look at their notes and then look up to speak. The same process as for an oral retell in IEW. They can also bring an item in that goes with their presentation. I have listed two example below. This will be a test grade.
Solid to liquid to Gas: I think that is interesting how atoms can go from a solid to a liquid and then to a gas by just changing the temperature. Because one element can be used in different ways if helps our world in different ways. An example is water that can drink and need everyday. Water when frozen into ice can help keep stuff cold. When water his heated and evaporates into the air it forms clouds. The clouds will eventually get heavy enough and rain will fall back to earth.
Atoms: Atoms are amazing. Atoms have three parts, protons, neutrons, and electrons. Each part has a charge, protons are positive, neutrons are neutral, and electrons are negative. Protons and neutrons form the nucleus and electrons spin around the outside of the atom. I think that it is amazing how everything is actually in motion even though we cannot see it.
History:
We will be learning 12 key dates during the year. We will be leaning 3 dates a quarter. At the end of the quarter there will be a quiz. The quiz will be accumulative as the year progresses. The dates are listed in the campus binder under the science and history tab.
