Math:
MF (math fact) practice will be completed daily.  The previous week's completed sheets will be collected every Monday for a homework grade.  You will need to set a timer for 6 min.  If not finished, draw a line where they have completed too and have them finish the MF practice page for that day.

We will begin Chapter 14 on time.

Composition:
In the final lessons for 3rd grade, you will be given prompts that tell you what to write about, but you will not be given a source texts or pictures. Where will you get your ideas about what to write? From you brain! How will you get the ideas out of your brain? By asking yourself questions.

If your student is still needing help on the topic sentence and clencher, please review it on pg 79-80.
Monday- KWO, Brainstorming page, review vocab words
Tuesday- Oral retell, write RD, parents proofread and help with corrections, make sure everything from checklist is included in the paper, review vocab words
Wednesday- Start writing FD in cursive.
Thursday-Finish FD, parents look over for any mistakes and that everything from the checklist is underlined and labeled.
Turn in Monday
All FD are to be written in cursive. If your child is still struggling with cursive, you can use the link below to help your child with the FD. You can type their RD into the space and it will create their RD in cursive and they can copy in the line below the cursive. Select the option from the picture below. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Reading
We are continuing "Little Pilgrim's Progress"  this week.  We will read this book through the end of the year. We will be completing a character diary on this book.  Your child will write an entry everyday about how they would feel, think, what they might do if they were on the same journey with Christian.  Each day they read they will need an entry about what happened that day and how they would feel or what they saw, ect.  The entry needs to be at least three complete sentences.

Science:

End of the year science presentation: On May 9, the students will present their ocean boxes for the year.  They will also complete a presentation.  They need to pick their favorite animal that we have studied this year.  The presentation needs to be at least 4 sentence.  They need to write them down on note cards or a piece of paper.  They will turn in their notecards or paper with their presentation on it.  They can read their information however they will need to look at their notes and then look up to speak.  The same process as for an oral retell in IEW.  They can also bring an item in that goes with their presentation.   I have listed two examples below.  This will be two grades.  One for the ocean box and one for the presentation.

Tides: I have been to the beach and love playing in the ocean that comes on the beach. I learned that the reason the ocean that comes up on the beach is called a tide. The tide are caused by the moon. As the moon goes through the different phases the tides change the amount that they flow onto the beach. I think that it is amazing how God made the moon effect the oceans on Earth.

Killer Whales: Killer whales are my favorite animal. They are really called orcas. Orcas live in family groups their whole lives. They are amazing hunter. They are also very smart. I loved learning more about orcas or killer whales.

The Oceans Box needs to contain the following:
Chapter 1: Cover or paint the box blue
Chapter 2: Baleen what or toothed whale
Chapter 3: Seal, sea lion, walrus, or manatee
Chapter 4: Sea turtle and a sea snake
Chapter 5: There is nothing to add for this chapter
Chapter 6: Create several kinds of fish or create a school of fish
Chapter 7: Shark and a ray
Chapter 8: Create some crustaceans (3)
Chapter 9: Create some mollusks (3), we can use real shells
Chapter 10: Create a cephalopods (1)
Chapter 11: Create an echinoderms (1)
Chapter 12: Jellyfish, sea anemone, and a coral colony
Chapter 13: Sponges and worms

History:
We will be learning 12 key dates during the year.  We will be learning 4 dates per quarter.  At the end of the quarter there will be a quiz.  The quiz will be accumulative as the year progresses.  The dates are listed in the campus binder under the science and history tab.
