Weekly Highlights- 

*If you weren't able to snap a picture of your student on the first day of school, I can send you one. 

*The class is continuing to learn and practice our procedures and behavioral expectations. They earned the reward of bringing a favorite stuffed animal/ special toy to class Monday (8/17)! ! The next reward they're hoping to earn is a Popsicle Party. Ask your student how these goals are reached. 

*Every student seems to appreciate our IEW lessons. I love seeing how each individualizes the KWO. So creative! My own children still use KWO's as note-taking tools during sermons. There are lots of ways to apply this organizational tool. 

*Thoughtful hypotheses were posed before we conducted the Water Pressure science experiment. Ask your student to share the results. You could further install awe and wonder for Our Creator by researching why certain sea life can thrive in the depths near the abyssal plain, instead of being crushed by pressure.

*A new favorite part of my week is to hear the students' sweet voices singing praises during Morning Worship. In class, we are working on memorizing the hymn "Be Thou My Vision".

WORKBOOK AND TEXTBOOK EXERCISES:
Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance. Initial the top when all problems have been completed correctly. TB and WB should be brought to class every Monday and Wednesday. I will check WB for a completion grade.

Fact Practices: Fact practice (FP) will be completed daily.  The previous week's completed sheets will be collected every Monday for a homework grade.  You will need to set a timer for 5 min.  If not finished, draw a line where they have completed to and have them finish the math fact practice page for that day. Please make sure these FP sheets are returned to Campus Binder daily, so that students bring them to class every Monday and Wednesday. I will collect the completed FP's from last week and replace w a new packet.

IEW:
We will continue learning about key word outlines (KWO), how to create one from a paragraph source text, and retelling using only the KWO. Bring IEW Student Workbook every Monday and Wednesday.

Spelling:

We will start step 1 this week on Thursday.  This week we are only writing sentences.  Please follow the instructions on pg 20 for dictating spelling sentence. Dictation should be written on the numbered pages provided in the Spelling section of the Campus Binder. Be sure to correct errors.

Reading:
We are continuing to read "The Hundred Dresses".  Reading journal questions are due Aug 26.

History:
We will use History journals (RED) in class on Mondays.

Science:
Please bring the science textbook and journal to school on Wednesday. 

Geography:
Continents & Oceans song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for pointing to the continents and oceans on a map.
