Parent Teacher Conferences:
Please sign up for a parent teacher conference.

Math:
We are finishing multiplication this week and will be starting long division over the next couple weeks.  If they know their multiplication facts it makes this process easier.  Between now and December we will be building on what we are learning.

Here is a website to help practice multiplication facts.  mathusee.com

Grammar:
We will be learning the seven subject pronouns, seven possessive pronouns, and the seven object pronouns the next two weeks.  Please be working on the jingles for the different types of pronouns.  They will have to be able to list all the different types on the test.

Composition:
This week we are in week 2 of Pecos Bill, a tall tale. This week we are working on the conflict. We will be adding the final draft to last week final draft.

Reading:
We are continuing to reading "Soft Rain" this week.  We will be completing a character diary on this book.  Your child will write an entry everyday about how they would feel, think, what they might do if they were on the same journey with Soft Rain.  Each day they read they will need an entry about what happened that day and how they would feel or what they saw, ect.  The entry needs to be at least three complete sentences.  The journal will be due on 12/7.

History:
We will be learning 12 key dates during the year.  We will be leaning 3 dates a quarter.  At the end of the quarter there will be a quiz.  The quiz will be accumulative as the year progresses.  The dates are listed in the campus binder under the science and history tab.

Quarter 2 dates
Charles V 15194
William the silent and a Dutch revolution 1582
Jamestown Colony Founded 1607
Thirty Year War 1618
Louis XIV the Sun King 1661
Sir Isaac Newton 1666

Memory:

Please spend time during your school day to work on quarter 2 poem, We Thank Thee, geography map & song, Oceania, and key dates. Feel free to get creative and practice these in the car, at bedtime, or during meals.
