Parent Teacher Conferences:
Report Cards should be sent out sometime this week.  Once they are sent out I will be sending out a sign-up genius to sign up for parent teacher conferences.  I will have times before school, after school and some on Friday afternoons.

Historical Dress-Up Day:
Costumes must be in the theme of our historic studies this year, which will cover The Holy Roman Empire (1550) through the World of the Forty-Nine(1850).  Guidelines: No weapons, no gore, nothing scary, students need to be able to move and sit properly and use the restroom on their own. Have fun thinking of ideas

Math:
Be practicing multiplication facts.  Please work on any areas that may be difficult.  Between now and December we will be building on what we are learning.

Grammar:
We are continuing to learn about preposition this weeks.

Composition:
We are on week four. We will be taking the three rough drafts and turn these into one paper. We will be teaching how to make paragraphs and how to make a complete story with all the different parts that we have learned. Please bring the final draft of Damocles and the King to school on Wednesday.

Tuesday - Write Damocles part A
Wednesday - Start a new paragraph and add Damocles B
Thursday - Start a new paragraph and add Damocles C

Reading:
Finish reading "Mr. Popper's Penguins".  We will be completing a fiction book poster on this book.  The fiction book poster will be due on 10/19.

History:
We will be learning 12 key dates during the year.  We will be leaning 3 dates a quarter.  At the end of the quarter there will be a quiz.  The quiz will be accumulative as the year progresses.  The dates are listed in the campus binder under the science and history tab.

Quarter 2 dates
Charles V 15194
William the silent and a Dutch revolution 1582
Jamestown Colony Founded 1607
Thirty Year War 1618
Louis XIV the Sun King 1661
Sir Isaac Newton 1666

Memory:

Please spend time during your school day to work on quarter 2 poem, We Thank Thee, geography map & song, Oceania, and key dates. Feel free to get creative and practice these in the car, at bedtime, or during meals.
