Parent Teacher Conferences:
Please sign up for a parent teacher conference.

Historical Dress-Up Day:
Costumes must be in the theme of our historic studies this year, which will cover The Holy Roman Empire (1550) through the World of the Forty-Nine(1850).  Guidelines: No weapons, no gore, nothing scary, students need to be able to move and sit properly and use the restroom on their own. Have fun thinking of ideas

Math:
Be practicing multiplication facts.  Please work on any areas that may be difficult.  Between now and December we will be building on what we are learning.

Here is a website to help practice multiplication facts.  mathusee.com

Grammar:
We are learning subject verb agreement the next two weeks.  Please be practicing because this can be confusing because a plural verb does not end in a s.

Composition:
We are reviewing the parts of a story for the next two weeks. We will be writing all three parts during the next two weeks. This week we will work on the KWO, brainstorming pages, and rough draft. Next week we will work on the final draft.

Reading:
We are starting "The Cabin Faced West" this week.  We will be completing a story cube on this book.  The story cube will be due on 11/2.

History:
We will be learning 12 key dates during the year.  We will be leaning 3 dates a quarter.  At the end of the quarter there will be a quiz.  The quiz will be accumulative as the year progresses.  The dates are listed in the campus binder under the science and history tab.

Quarter 2 dates
Charles V 15194
William the silent and a Dutch revolution 1582
Jamestown Colony Founded 1607
Thirty Year War 1618
Louis XIV the Sun King 1661
Sir Isaac Newton 1666

Memory:

Please spend time during your school day to work on quarter 2 poem, We Thank Thee, geography map & song, Oceania, and key dates. Feel free to get creative and practice these in the car, at bedtime, or during meals.
